Biography
Influenced by conceptual minimalism, Atsushi Ohashi started his career as a sculptor with his first solo show at Yamaguchi Gallery in Tokyo in1982.
He gradually shifted his artistic and philosophical interest to two-dimensional media and figurative painting. He has concentrated on traditional paintings on canvas since 2002, adopting people in New York City. His first solo show in New York titled " Waiting for the G-Train ” at the Williamsburg Library Gallery, and another ones are in 2007 “ Waiting for L-Train “ at Tenri Cultural Institute of New York Gallery in 2014 and Blue Gallery in the midtown in 2019. He is currently living in Bushwhack Brooklyn and making new paintings’ series “ People in New York Parks”.
An artist with more than 30 years of experience in New York and Tokyo, Ohashi's work has been published in a distingushed internet art magagine NYC Gallery Openings or art books and magazines in both the U.S. and Japan, including New York Art World, Art in America, and Contemporary Artists in Japan.
