Biography
Erika Tada has studied art and glass sculpture since middle high school age in Japan, and she have also studied in Germany, and the USA. She graduated with an MFA from the School of American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2005, and a PhD from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2012. She currently teaches at Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan.
Her work in glass explores her personal history and everyday scenes beyond her emotions as a sculpture, which is relevance to 3D and 4D in the contemporary art fields.
Vetro Magazine named her “Best Debut Artist at SOFA Chicago”, and she was a winner of the international student exhibition of GAS conference in Australia. In 2016, she took on the jury member of Stanislav Libensky Award in Czech. She has been an instructor at schools including Corning Museum of Glass, Pilchuck Glass School, Penland School of Crafts, Pittsburgh Glass Center, Ball State University and RIT.
