Biography
Minako Ito is an artist born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She learned the basic skills of Urushi-Art (Japanese Lacquer) at school in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture and faculty of art at the Kyoto University of the Arts. After graduation, she learned various technique at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where she completed a master’s degree. She makes her works through all processes by herself using Kanshitsu and make technique with using gold, silver, and mother-of-pearl and so on. She wants to help introduce Japanese Urushi to the world, so that more people will know of and appreciate its beauty and other merits.
