Biography
Born in 1958 in Hokkaido. Completed M.A. course in Craft in the Graduate School of Fine Arts in 1986, Tokyo University of the Arts. Tanioka works are produced by making full use of casting techniques that were taught from casting techniques in China, Greece, and other countries. He is always looking for hope that the molten metal solidifies again in the mold and becomes a substance, and that the hard and brittle nature of metal is also related to his image, and that his work will express the beauty of the material. He has exhibited in many galleries and museums in Japan, and France. Recently he is professor, metal casting in Tokyo University of the Arts. He lives and works in Tokyo.
